This strategic shift follows significant changes at the government-backed institute, including the departure of its former chief executive last month after both workforce dissatisfaction and ministerial calls for major restructuring.

Increasing Digital Threats

The latest project comes amid increasing worry about the nation's susceptibility to digital service failures and online threats.

Recent incidents have highlighted these vulnerabilities, including a widespread failure affecting global cloud computing and recent cyber-attacks that disrupted production at key facilities and logistics systems across various businesses.

Management and Supervision

A previous senior officer of the the nation's space operations center will provide findings next month on how the publicly-supported center can optimally help the scope of official artificial intelligence goals in national security, homeland protection and intelligence.

Strategic Realignment

The center's head, a ex-Amazon UK executive, confirmed that nearly eighty separate studies at the organization with 440 employees have been closed, transferred out or finished because they do not align with the new direction.

Internal Challenges

The institute has faced internal strife since last year as employees objected against changes, culminating in a collection of workers filing a whistleblower complaint to the proper supervisory commission.
