It's difficult for Australia to break new ground.

The greatest achievements have been successfully scaled.

This is the team that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to an additional six T20 titles, and earlier maintained 1,294 days unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, targeted by the record chasers, are all that remain for a side that has achieved everything.

That it took up to Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase above 300, regaining their record for the highest in the women's 50-over format, is, honestly, a testament to the bowling attack that have represented Australia over the past 50 years.

It is hard for their batters to hold a record if never given the chance.

In the end, the consequence of Australia allowing 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy receiving an opportunity to create her latest masterpiece.

That loss "pushed us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy said this week.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the championship match and was declared player of the series. She ensured her country would not fall short again.

The question of whether this recent magnificent innings surpassed that earlier display is debatable.

Some will argue the argument supporting final game tension. Others can counter with the test that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What is certain is this century was much more difficult to anticipate.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 occurred when she was the highest scorer, but this performance followed six innings in India since the start of last month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've observed me in training, it's been a challenging time because it appeared my form was missing at all," said Healy.

"However when you step out on the field, your competitive instincts kick in and you simply focus on the competition."

Healy's competitiveness has always been her major advantage - and an irreplaceable characteristic in replacing iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, fallen to the young fast bowler in each encounter, but this time it merely gave Healy's motivation.

A single came off the opening delivery and from that point the right-hander was underway.

"An opportunity to take the field and lock in a contest with her and merely enjoy the moment in that regard, somewhat inspired me," commented Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 pitches - her swiftest at the global tournament - and her ton in 84 balls as she attacked short-pitched balls, striking 21 boundaries and three maximums.

By the time she was dismissed her side required another 66 at run per delivery - an unconquered height now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"To chase 330 is new territory so I'm pleased we have the confidence to accomplish that now," stated Healy further.

"Ideally we won't need to repeat it but, if necessary, we are confident we can do it."

These statements will be the final thing competing nations at this World Cup should hear.

During the last week a feeling they will succeed regardless of circumstances has grown stronger - this triumph succeeding success over Pakistan by 107 runs despite struggling at 76-7 at one point.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before an encounter with old rivals England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final berth may well be secure.

It was at that stage they exited last year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a game Healy couldn't play because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she led her country for the first time at a major tournament.

So strong is her resolve, she subsequently stated she regretted not playing through the pain.

But while she afterwards confessed those fitness problems have delayed thoughts of retirement, this championship is likely to be her concluding event as leader in 50-over cricket and she is yet to win a world championship as skipper.

Success in India would lead her to the peak of her final mountain.
