Former Doctor Faces Assault Allegations Against 38 Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors have stated that a former doctor stands accused of carrying out assaults against 38 victims who were patients.
Details of the Serious Charges
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with numerous sexual offences ā some of which involve some against children younger than 13 ā between 2017 and 2021.
A deputy chief CPS official said, āLegal teams have worked at length to assist a detailed and complex investigation, meticulously examining the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.ā
Scope of the Investigation
These allegations come after what investigators called a ācomplex investigationā into alleged assaults at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.
Breakdown of Offences
Prosecutors said the 45 charges he is charged with:
- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- One count of attempted penetrative assault.
