The President Calls Families of Attacked National Guard Members to the Presidential Residence

President Donald Trump revealed on the weekend that he has invited the family of a National Guard member fatally shot last week to attend the executive mansion.

He added that he spoke to her family and they were “deeply grieving”.

Details on the Tragic Shooting

Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was killed in a shooting on Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her colleague, Andrew Wolfe, 24, continues receiving treatment in critical condition.

Gatherings across West Virginia have occurred in their memory.

White House Offer

The commander-in-chief explained he’s discussed a meeting at the presidential residence for the parents of both individuals of the state Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a tough thing, arrive at the White House. We’re going to honor her,” Trump told reporters. “And in the same way with Andrew, whether he recovers or not.”

Public Response

Community members gathered over the weekend at the high school in the state to honor Beckstrom.

Both she and Wolfe had been serving with the military unit as part of Trump’s national effort to support policing efforts in DC.

Remembering Sarah Beckstrom

“She was the individual that teachers desired. She conducted herself with inner fortitude, a bright grin and a upbeat demeanor that inspired people around her,” Hankins, the leader of Beckstrom’s previous school, informed the press. “She was caring, compassionate and always eager to support those in need.”

Funeral details for Sarah are still being arranged.

Legal Actions and Government Changes

Authorities have charged a twenty-nine-year-old individual from Afghanistan with a charge of first-degree murder and charges of assault with intent to kill while carrying a weapon.

The incident caused the administration to pause asylum processing and cease issuing entry permits to possessors of passports from Afghanistan.

Status of the Airman

The airman, a resident of the city, started his military career in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of his local high school, according to the Associated Press.

He continues to receive treatment and is “fighting for his life”, the state’s governor Patrick Morrisey mentioned on television.

The state’s top lawyer Pam Bondi told the program that she also intended to visit the family.

Memory of Sarah Beckstrom

Beckstrom, from her hometown, graduated from Webster County high school in 2023 and began her service not long after, serving as a law enforcement officer with excellence, according to the state guard.

“She had a lot of kindness and she certainly had courage,” Morrisey addressed the gathering at the vigil. “Though her time lasted far too short, she has made an impact that’s going to be remembered always.”
