NFL 2025 season: Week six

Real-time updates includes text commentary of Sunday's games via various channels, beginning with Denver Broncos v New York Jets at Tottenham (kicking off at 2 PM BST). Additionally, audio coverage is available through designated networks covering another key matchup (beginning at 9 PM BST).

We're in the sixth week in the NFL season and after last week's talk regarding the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles as possible championship contenders, they both surrendered their perfect starts.

Notable in those games were the number of infractions each conceded. Philadelphia did so at crucial times so they essentially defeated themselves having led by two touchdowns going into the fourth period versus Denver, who play in London this weekend.

But it proved positive to observe that Denver quarterback Bo Nix was able to overcome that deficit before direct three scoring drives on three possessions during the final period, to win the victory 21-17.

Denver have the defensive player of the year in cornerback Pat Surtain II. They rank first in goal-line defense, whereas Philadelphia are number one in scoring near the end zone, and the Broncos prevailed in that battle.

They had effective strategies regarding simulated pressure. They did not always sending extra pass rushers instead they might plug two LBs in the 'A' gap before drop them out and dispatch a slot defender off the edge.

Early on in the campaign, it was noted during a show that Denver could be this season's surprise contenders. They ended the previous year well and did a good job in continuing that momentum.

Could Denver be this year's dark horses?

New TE Evan Engram has stepped up big while new running back their rusher is a guy the team trusts. He now ranks fifth league-wide for rushing yards (402) as well as tied for fourth for rushing touchdowns (4).

I love that head coach the Broncos' leader has "RUSH!" at the top on his call sheet.

This demonstrates how the Broncos are a squad aiming to run first, since you can achieve much based on that approach. It slows down the pass rush while maintains in positive down and distances.

This has helped QB the young passer, who came the NFL as a first-round selection in the prior draft, throwing 29 touchdown passes – second only to a star QB in rookie records (31 in 2020).

Other elite QBs have the arm strength to pass all over, however they don't move the mobility that Nix has. He boasts incredible passing ability, which is different, and he is so athletic.

His assets are his mobility, being able to throw while moving, and finding varied release points to make the pass when he rolls outside protection, the bootlegs. He is able to throw precision throws over the middle and past defenders.

As a rookie QB, aged 25, he displays great poise in the pocket and isn't bothered by extra rushers. He tries to avoid a sack as much as possible and can pass in tight spots. He possesses sharp intelligence and is quick to decide.

When you consistently run the ball it consumes time and makes the defence to stay on the field for longer, and if you have an athletic quarterback the defence has to defend the area downfield and horizontally. This proves exhausting.

Nix has pushed back at Payton on the sideline at times and I think the coach likes that attitude, seeing him as a fierce rival. In my view it's fun for him to have a rookie QB that is similar to play-dough. The coach can truly build something up how he wants to shape him. I believe it's a unique opportunity for the coach.

Payton owns a championship and has surpassed Bill Parcells in all-time victories (173, tying for 14th). He's seen it all. I think the achievements the Broncos are having offensively is mostly due to his leadership, his schemes, his situational awareness – and the pairing with the QB aids shape him into who he is.

There's no better a more qualified person guiding you, to assist you through difficult moments and build self-belief.

I have faith in Denver's defence, in the QB's grit and calm. But are they good enough to go against a top squad at its best? Because that wasn't championship-level play by the Eagles last Sunday.

Currently, I don't think Denver are incredible. They're working above average, that's a solid position to be in the AFC West. The key to do to continue this trajectory.

They excel at embracing their strength, that is the ground game, and that's exactly what they must do versus the Jets at Tottenham. It's going to be the JK Dobbins show, essentially.

New York have surrendered 140 rushing yards per game (sixth worst), five rushing touchdowns this season (in the bottom ten), and they are the sole squad without a win any game.

Since the league began tracking turnovers decades ago, the Jets are the first team to be without a single takeaway through five games, which is surprising when you think that their new coach was previously defensive co-ordinator at the Detroit Lions.

The Chiefs' QB stated Kansas City are off to a poor start after a recent loss by the Jaguars.

Following this Sunday's game, the Broncos face a smooth-ish schedule until their bye (in week 12) - the Giants, Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans plus Las Vegas Raiders before the Kansas City Chiefs.

Looking at the AFC West, the Chiefs hold a losing record and the Broncos are tied with the Chargers at 3-2 so they could challenge at leading the division.

This hinges upon which form Kansas City shows up they meet because the Broncos {beat|def
